Waleed Refaay

Waleed founded Maarefah Association Management in April 2016, He is the executive director for the company responsible for the overall management of the organisation. Waleed comes with 25 years of International experience.

Prior to joining Reditus and founding Maarefah Association Management Waleed spent 9 years with the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), the largest oil and gas society in the world, as the Managing Director for MENA and South Asia Regions. Based in Dubai, Waleed spearheaded SPE’s aggressive expansion in both regions. He was a member of the leadership team reporting to the CEO.

Prior to SPE, Waleed worked in the event management industry organizing high-level meetings for one of the leading international event management organizations in the world, managing offices in London, Amsterdam, South East Asia, Greater China and South Africa. He moved to the Gulf region to set up an office for another international conference organizer specializing in oil and gas events. As a civil engineer, he worked on several projects in Egypt.

Waleed holds a Master of Science degree in civil engineering from Alexandria University, is a member of the Dutch association for Civil Engineers, an active members of The American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) and he is a proud Dubai Association centre ambassador.
